Iván, Ra and Inés, three Obrador artists, participated in an exhibition called Hydra in Ghent, Belgium, at the 019 Ghent space. María Goirigolzarri curated the work.
As part of the Lanean project, mawa tres invited them to make a publication, collecting the process of Hydra and somehow relating their writing to the re-opening of the Rekalde gallery, which had been under construction for several months.
Obrador entrusted me with the design of the publication, which had to resonate with the structure of Hydra in the gallery. They are, in turn, three writing exercises, in which the artists tell us about the voice(s) of Hydra (a multi-headed monster).
“If at the exhibition we saw its body, now we hear its voice, understanding a relationship between the voice(s) of Hydra and the narrative voice(s) of the texts. The installation itself has a somewhat cacophonous texture, with technologies and materialities co-inhabiting, overlapping and intertwining, but each maintaining a recognizable identity.”

In the context of the reopening of the Sala Rekalde, artists are invited to carry out an activation for the presentation of the Hydra publication.
Proposal: optimizing resources, it is proposed that the print has value as a publication and an object.
Thus, the piece is activated with an installation that submerges its pages, printed on Papel Piedra, under water. In this way, the curatorial narrative connects all the central themes, offering a significant experience for the viewer.
